Issues Important to Families
Families are the basic unit of civilization. This early social unit develops a sense of purpose. This is the center of our primary learning of values and skills. This is where we learn to love, trust, companionship, responsibility, conflict resolution, care-giving, and compromise. We learn that our behavior affects others. We learn to recover from disappointments. These grow into community values.

Mental Health
Lost in mental health issues? We need a comprehensive program that provides support and guidance from the cradle to the grave. Infants exhibit symptoms requiring specialized support. School children are readily identified as needing support. Teenagers and their parents often need additional guidance. Professional support should help damaged adult children as well as struggling elders. A coordinated, committed program would work.

Open Spaces
Open spaces are important to the heart, mind and body. Families can explore. Breathe fresh air. Make discoveries. They provide the space for recreation and community gatherings.
The value to the enviroment is critical when you consider diversity of species, ground water storage, air purity, and soil.

Civil Rights
The first amendment guarantees Freedom of Speech; that specifically means criticism of the government. No one should be beaten, arrested, or shot protesting government policies or persons.
Immigration

We are a nation of immigrants. Our immigrants add energy, ambition, and new ideas. Immigrants have made us the prosperous United States. Law-abiding, working immigrants pay taxes and contribute to our lives. They should be welcomed. If an immigrant actually takes your job or housing, call me.
We should be planning for the much larger waves of immigration that global warming will cause. I don't know how to plan for this but it should be taken care of now.
